Our Story
Our Story – SPC was established in 2004 by Pastor Brian Baker, his wife Karen and their 2 sons, Stephen and Bradley. Our first public worship service was held in the Pomona Park Community Center with just a handful of people. SPC moved to the Crescent City YMCA on Easter Sunday 2005 and continued there as a portable church until 2010. After purchasing 7 acres of land in 2008, we built and moved into our first permanent facility on Easter Sunday of 2010. As SPC continued to grow it became necessary to buy a larger facility.
In July 2016, we purchased the YMCA building where we met as a portable church. After some much needed repairs and updates, “The Cube” is now a gathering place for Sunday morning worship services, student ministry, community outreach, and youth sporting programs. In June 2019, Pastor Brian Baker received a call from God to serve Epic Church in Palm Coast, Florida and was released from his calling at SPC. Daniel Jones accepted the call to be the Senior Pastor of SPC in November 2019. Daniel, his wife Ashley, and children Joshua, Jacob, and Kylie have been serving at SPC since 2012.
SPC has spent the past two years largely focused on opening up The Cube as a gathering place for our community. The Cube isn’t just a place to GO to church, it is a tool God has blessed us with to be the Church and reach out into our community as the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus. Primary ministries that operate at SPC’s Crecent City campus include our Feed The Need food pantry, Putnam County Medical Mission, clothes closet, CONNECT student ministry, Men/Women fellowship gatherings, and more. SPC currently partners with multiple organizations to offer community events and services including Putnam County Parks and Recreation, Palatka Police Athlete League, Kenpo Karate, WIC, and Putnam County Medical Mission. We truly believe the best is yet to come as we continue to live out our vision, mission and values in Crescent City and beyond.
